Rooms and Guest Experience Director

Sofia Vergara

Sofia is a junior at the Nolan School of Hotel Administration pursuing a minor in Real Estate. She is originally from Cali, Colombia, but has spent the majority of her life in Bergen County, New Jersey. Growing up, she worked at her family's ice cream store, where she developed a passion for hospitality and serving others. She hopes to bring that same passion to a career in hotel asset management, creating spaces that foster meaningful connections.

Outside of HEC, Sofia has served on the executive boards of Mosaic Hospitality Association, the Nolan Ambassadors, and the Association of Latino Professionals for America. Through these organizations, Sofia aims to create resources for students of all backgrounds to succeed in the industry. Sofia also enjoys supporting students academically and is a Course Assistant for various classes within the Hotel School. In her free time, she enjoys baking and going on hikes with her friends.

Sofia started her HEC journey her freshman year as a Sales Manager for HEC100 and returned for HEC101 as a Guest Experience Assistant Director. HEC has been one of the most rewarding parts of her Cornell experience, and she is honored to continue the legacy of such a longstanding tradition.

This year, Sofia is looking forward to serving as a point of contact for both students and guests, in order to create a seamless conference experience. Her department will focus on creating meaningful connections with their guests and designing memorable amenities.
