A Message from the Managing Director

Hello All,

As the holiday season comes to a close, we would like to express our gratitude to all of you. The conference would not be possible without your support, and we are proud and privileged to continue your Hotel School legacy and tradition.

Our teams have been working diligently to prepare for HEC weekend. We are so excited to bring our vision of "Dare to Do" to life and highlight ways in which the hospitality industry impacts society. Please read on to hear how each department has been working toward an incredible conference that we cannot wait to share with you.

First, our Sales & Donor Relations team has been busy reaching out to potential guests and donors. Their team has already sent over 2,000 invites to HEC 95, and many of you may have received an email from them yourselves! Our Director of Sales, Sarah Kimball, would love to see each and every one of you at this year's conference, so she hopes that you send in your registrations early and to invite your friends, too!

The Diversity team recently produced #ID, a video highlighting the ways in which our students add value to the Hotel School through their unique backgrounds and identities. The team has been working closely with the Programs department on creating a diverse speaker lineup, and has also coordinated projects with the Diversity and Inclusion Business Advisory Council.

The Programs team began searching for speakers last May, and has since been hard at work assembling an impressive line-up of industry icons who will be discussing wide-ranging topics including community-based restaurants, gender equity, and sustainable hotel operations.

Next, the Marketing and Media & IT teams have been focusing on our social media presence, especially our Instagram page. These teams are also proud to have launched a Community section on our website so that you can stay in the loop on conference updates and everything we've been up to! This includes Student Spotlights, an initiative led by the Human Resources department to highlight students who are impacting HEC in a meaningful way. Be sure to check out our Community page and give us a follow on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn!

The Rooms department has been working on filling our guest rooms at The Statler Hotel with exciting amenities, such as the highly anticipated HEC plate. Additionally, the Guest Experience Managers have been contacting guests who have already registered to customize their conference experience and ensure that the weekend is unforgettable!

The Procurement team has been exploring sustainable sourcing options for HEC 95 and reaching out to local farms in hopes of supporting the Ithaca community.

Finally, the Food & Beverage teams recently presented our proposed food and beverage event concepts to faculty and staff at the annual Function Flow meeting last November. The teams are thrilled to be weaving the theme throughout every facet of the conference, including the menus, design, and service. I am so excited to see all of their hard work and passion come to life in March!

We invite you to register here and join us from March 12-15, 2020 for The 95th Annual Hotel Ezra Cornell. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Yours in Service,

Julia Li
