Meet Ellie

Ellie Scherping is a junior at the Nolan School of Hotel Administration minoring in Real Estate. At a young age, her love for baking sparked her passion for the service industry. She was committed to further exploring a career in hospitality after her experiences working as a hostess and waitress during high school at a restaurant in her hometown of Great Falls, Virginia. Looking to expand her operational knowledge with her curiosity for real estate, Ellie pursued internships this past summer with PM Hotel Group and Artemis Real Estate Partners, garnering knowledge in hotel development and broadening her perspectives in real estate investments.

Hoping to develop more comprehensive operations knowledge, Ellie joined the Hotel Leadership Development Program working as a Lead for the Meetings & Events Department at The Statler Hotel. Her participation in the Cornell Real Estate Club compelled her initial interest in real estate development, leading to her role as a Teaching Assistant for the Hospitality Development & Planning core course. As a Student Ambassador for the School of Hotel Administration, Ellie shares her enthusiasm by speaking to prospective and current students about her involvement in the Hotel School.

Ellie became involved in Hotel Ezra Cornell her freshman year as an Assistant Function Manager on the Culinary Team for HEC 96, progressing to the position of Assistant Director for HEC 97. She is excited to be the Food and Beverage Service Director for HEC 98 so that she can apply the skills she gained working at The Statler Hotel and to lead a team that unequivocally exemplifies the motto “life is service.”
