Bernd Pichler

With more than 20 years of international hospitality experience, Bernd’s core background sits in Operations and Sales. He joined SH Hotels & Resorts at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in 2019 and since 2021 manages 1 Hotel Central Park.

Like many hospitality industry experts, Bernd’s passion for his trade has introduced him to many different parts of the globe.  

Prior to joining SH, Bernd held various roles in the U.S., most recently as Hotel Manager at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe, previously as Director of Operations at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa and additional positions with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr (Abu Dhabi, UAE), Fairmont Grand Del Mar (San Diego), Fairmont San Francisco and Fairmont Pittsburgh (PA).  Prior to his 10 years with Fairmont, Bernd operated SEB Restaurant in Valencia, Spain. Before his time in Spain, he opened The Langham London (UK) and held various Sales & Marketing roles at The Chelsea Toronto (Canada), and The Leading Hotels of the World representing the UK, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, and Israel (London, UK based).

Bernd’s academic accolades include a degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management from his homeland of Austria. Continuing his personal studies, he attended universities in Canada, Spain, and the U.S. Bernd is a certified sommelier and fluent in English, German, and Spanish.  

Ultimately, what sets Bernd apart from other successful hospitality leaders is his fresh outlook on necessary changes that need to be made to keep the hospitality industry attractive to future leaders. To attract the best future talent we must think outside the box.    

Last but certainly not least, Bernd is a devoted family man. He has an amazing family consisting of his wife Mary and their two boys Cliff and Charlie, and dog Barney. In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, cycling, and trying out new food & beverage offerings throughout the city.
