Sarah Newcomb is a junior from Waikoloa, Hawaii, studying Hotel Administration with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, and Real Estate, and is planning on minoring in Real Estate and Applied Economics and Management. Sarah’s passion for service was sparked in high school when she started a nonprofit organization that gave low income families in her community free produce for over three months during the pandemic. Sarah also established a love for cooking and baking at a young age, growing up experimenting in the kitchen with her parents which led her to work in the restaurant industry for over three years. Upon graduation, Sarah is hoping to work in Hospitality Consulting or Human Capital Consulting.
Sarah came to the Hotel School knowing she wanted to be a part of Hotel Ezra Cornell. She started out her HEC career in the Culinary Department as an Assistant Function Manager for HEC 97, and then went on to serve as the Assistant Director of the Food and Beverage Department for HEC 98. This year, Sarah is excited to use her experience to lead the incredibly talented Food and Beverage Team through HEC 99.
Outside of HEC, Sarah is involved in many organizations centered around the mentorship of women and helping the community around her. She is involved in the Professional Development of Women Club, the Women Leadership in Hospitality Club, Hotel Student Mentorship Program, and A Seat at the Table (a business ethics consulting club). She is also a Residential Advisor for freshman Cornell Students, and serves on the Residential Advisor Council. In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors, strolling through the Ithaca Farmers Market, reading, skiing, and spending time at the beach!
