Maya Sakamoto
Maya Sakamoto is a Senior from los angeles california majoring in Hotel administration and minoring in Real Estate. Maya's passion for F&B started in her grandmother's kitchen where she first learned how to cook and saw how food is able to bring people together and showcase one's culture. Upon graduation, Maya is hoping to work in Real Estate Development/Investment Management.
Maya has been a part of HEC for the past three years in various departments. She started as a culinary function manager for HEC 96, then was a guest amenity manager for HEC 97, followed by F&B assistant director for HEC 99. This year Maya is excited to combine all of her past experiences to lead the Budget and Procurement team for HEC 100.
Outside of HEC, Maya is also an ambassador for the Nolan school and enjoys connecting with prospective students. In her free time, Maya enjoys baking, going on long walks, and finding the best breakfast burrito and pumpkin pie.
Tara has been involved with HEC since freshman year. Starting as a Pastry Function Manager on the HEC 97 Culinary Team, Tara wrote recipes, ordered ingredients with specific protocols, and executed the baked goods. Her passion towards the procurement side of logistics led her to become a Finance and Procurement Manager for HEC 98. In this role, Tara participated in ordering and receiving processes, along with overseeing the HEC budget and the factors that affect it. She is excited to use past skills and gain more knowledge in her role as the HEC 99 Finance and Procurement Director.
Outside of HEC, Tara serves as a Hotel School Mentor, a Course Assistant for HADM 1361, and is Captain of the Cornell Women's Rugby Team. In her free time, Tara enjoys lifting, hiking, watersports, and trying new coffee shops.
