Joy Xu
Joy Xu is a senior in the Nolan School of Hotel Administration minoring in Operations Research and Information Engineering (ORIE). Joy is from Potomac, Maryland, and she grew up loving to cook and bake for her friends and family. Joy also worked at a boba shop in high school, which cemented her interest in the hospitality industry. From Food & Beverage at a country club to Technical Sales at IBM, Joy has a wide range of industry experiences. After graduation, Joy hopes to pursue a career in the intersection between hospitality and tech.
This is Joy's fourth year in HEC. She started off in Culinary as Assistant Function Manager of HEC 97, then she moved to the Food & Beverage Service department as Assistant Director of HEC 98, followed by Senior Advisor for Food & Beverage Service for HEC 99. This year, for HEC 100, Joy is excited to use her experience to lead an incredibly talented F&B Service team to make HEC 100 "the best ever"!
Outside of HEC, Joy is involved in a variety of other activities. Some highlights include being the Student Supervisor for Meetings & Events in the Statler Hotel, serving on the Dean's Student Advisory Board, and working as the Senior Advisor & past co-CEO of Crossroads (an on-campus custom merchandise nonprofit). In her free time, Joy likes to explore National Parks and take long drives in her old car.
